Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Our systems do not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or direct message when needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive standard technical details when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- Device type and operating system
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Approximate time spent on each page
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and our analytics services help produce aggregate traffic measures, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can reject cookies through its settings, although some features may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Maintain performance and availability
- Diagnose and correct technical faults
- Route a query to the selected search partner
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Our published material identifies the Marion County Sheriff's Department, local court clerks, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tennessee Sex Offender Registry as official custodians and explains their request channels. No visitor data is turned into a record about another person or a consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices govern information submitted through those tools. Review the applicable provider policy before running a query because we do not control its processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, Tennessee agency, legal-aid, or private-provider websites. The destination's privacy policy applies after a visitor leaves this site, so read that policy before providing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring site traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving content on a page
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We apply customary safeguards to information in our control. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so these measures reduce risk but cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. We will delete such information when we learn that it was provided by a minor.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a visitor's residence and applicable law. Tennessee's Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §10-7-503, governs access to government records, while Tenn. Code Ann. §38-6-120 governs TBI open-record criminal-history checks; neither turns this private site into a public-record custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data in our control
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Object to processing where an applicable law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
Revisions will be posted here and identified by a new effective date. Visitors should review this page periodically for changes in our practices.
